Flexi Season ticket FAQs

  1. 1. How do I load my Flexi-Season ticket onto my Smartcard? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

You can also use the c2c train travel app to easily load your Flexi-Season ticket to you Smartcard ahead of your journey. This will speed up your journey through the gates at the station. When you buy your first Flexi-Season ticket and each time you top-up thereafter, you will need to select which station you would like to 'load' your tickets. This process allows the ticket to physically load onto your Smartcard, using the card reader at the station. When loading your ticket, you need to press and hold your Smartcard against the reader until you hear the beep and see a green light on the display. If you hear a double-beep and see a red light, try again, making sure you keep the card as still as possible. If you continue to hear the double-beep and see the red light, please seek attention from a member of staff.
  2. 2. How do I top-up my Flexi-Season ticket? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

Once you have purchased your first bundle of 10 tickets, you will then need to use the top-up function. Continually buying Flexi-Season tickets using the main ticket purchase process will cause problems with your Smartcard. To top-up, login to your account and follow these steps: 1. Go to the Flexi section of your account 2. Click the 'top-up' button next to your ticket 3. Follow instructions to complete the top-up Alternatively, top up quickly and easily directly in the c2c Train Travel app.
  3. 3. How many Flexi passes do I have left? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

The best way to check how many passes you have left on your Flexi-Season ticket is in the c2c Train Travel app. Find out more here. You can also check online, in the Flexi tab in your c2c online account where you'll see top up and info.
  4. 4. When do Flexi-Season tickets expire? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

The tickets are valid for travel on any day, up to 26 weeks after purchase, giving you the flexibility to choose when to use them; any remaining tickets that you haven’t used within this time will expire. However, if you top-up with another Flexi-Season pass between the same two stations, we will extend the validity of any unused tickets by another 26 weeks.
  5. 5. What happens if I don’t/can’t tap in or out because the gateline is out of operation? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

You must validate your pass before travelling. First, please make sure a member of staff knows that the gateline is not in operation before you start your journey. Once we are aware we will send a message to all of our ticket inspectors and stations and let you travel without tapping in. If ticket inspectors aren’t aware that the barrier is out of operation, you may receive a penalty fare for not tapping in, so please make sure that you tell a member of staff before travelling. Once you have finished your journey, your Flexi-Season ticket will be activated when you tap out at your destination station.
  6. 6. How do you calculate the credit I will receive for travelling off-peak? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

If on one of the days that you use a Flexi-Season ticket you only travel off-peak, we will credit the c2c online account linked to your Smartcard with an eVoucher worth 10% of the cost of that day’s travel. If you use your Flexi-Season ticket on Saturday, Sunday or a Bank Holiday, your online account will be credited with the difference in price between the cost of that day’s Flexi-Season ticket travel and that of a Weekend Off-Peak Day Return. We will then credit eVouchers to your account, approximately 10 days after the date of your journey. Please note: you must always tap in and tap out to receive this reward. As an example, if you bought a Flexi-Season for £150, the cost for each day’s travel is £15. If you travel off-peak one day. you will therefore receive an eVoucher of £1.50. If you travel at the weekend, you will generally receive an eVoucher of around £4.88.
