FAQ connected to this ticket type

  1. 1. At what age can children travel on your trains unaccompanied by an adult? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

c2c can’t take any responsibility for children travelling alone and we will not allow any child under the age of 12 to travel without an adult (aged 16 or over). If our staff do believe that a child under the specified age is travelling alone, the British Transport Police will be called for assistance.
  2. 2. At what age do my children need to be before I have to purchase a Travelcard for them to travel in London? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

Children under 11 years of age travel free during off-peak hours within the London Travelcard area (Monday to Fridays after 09:30 or anytime Saturday, Sunday and during public holidays). Children do not require tickets and should be allowed through gates/side gates as necessary. Accompanying adults should use the gates in the normal way - and if using Oyster cards, touch in and out at all times. Each Adult Travelcard holder can take up to four children under 11 for free - and up to four 11 to 15-year-olds for a £1 flat fare All Zones Off-Peak Day Travelcard. No photocards are required by any accompanied children.
  3. 3. What do you offer in terms of child fares? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

Children under five travel free of charge, so you will not have to purchase a ticket for them. Please keep in mind that they will not have a seat reservation, so may have to stand or sit on your knee if the train is busy. If you wish them to reserve a seat, you will need to purchase a child ticket. There are a number of discounted child fares available for children aged between five and 15. The total fare quoted on the booking pages feature discounts already (where applicable). Click on the ticket name on the left-hand side of the page to see if the ticket you need is discounted. One of the cheapest ways to purchase a child's fare is by using a Family Railcard. This offers a discount of 1/3 on Adult fares, and a 60% discount on child fares when you’re all travelling together.
